When this nurse gets tired of long hours and high pressure on her registered nursing job, she quickly finds another. In the last two years she has changed jobs six times and at times it calls for her to move to another state. What those traveling nurse companies do is to help hospitals compensate for their lack for personnel. A nurse who has worked in hospitals from Florida to New York and San Diego to Seattle since graduating from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Nursing in 1999 says that she has not received her first request on a location yet.
With the traveling nurses present hospitals can get the extra help they need says the Chief Nursing Executive of the University of Pennsylvania health system. They make an initial commitment of 13 weeks so there is some continuity.
